Operation Apple
With all of the headlines and turmoil going on in the world people often forget those affected by the pandemic, government abuse of power, or just plain Government Failure. As some of you may know I am Rob of the Flux Army and over time I have grown to not only know the Flux community but Love them as well, I have spoken to many of them and they have given me the privilege of sharing their day to day lives with me as well as some of the bare necessities that many of use take for granted as a luxury to them.
One day as I was working with one of the team trying to coordinate all of the items we would need and who we would need to get the permissions from to have an event at a local hospital to give children in the cancer ward Chocolate chip cookies, Monachita the Team leader of Flux Army Casanay brought up a good point what about the children that can not eat cookies because of their medications, she stated that chocolate chips in cookies is a luxury do to the price of chocolate but she would like to substitute some with apples which is also a luxury item as well, I was blown away, could it be an apple is a luxury!? She stated to me that it is true many children including her own had never tasted an apple because the cost of an apple is about 1 U.S. dollar which the families would rather spend that dollar on food they could eat all day rather than on one apple! Again I am blown away by this, I asked Monachita to please go out and buy every apple she could find, She asked if she could quickly organize an event to feed the local children and families and make them aware of the Flux Army, of course i was excited by this and said yes please lets do great things! Which is the birth of operation apple, Monachita with no hesitation ran out and started to search the city for apples, this was not easy because many do not buy apples, she was apple to buy 3 bags of apples, the team then sprung into action hand drawing logos and having stickers and shirts made and within two days the team was ready! can you believe it two days!? on the day of the event they prepared all the food, snacks, and treats, and as guests started to arrive they noticed they were not going to have enough apples, word had spread of the apples! So the Team with reluctance began cutting the apples (they really wanted the children to have a whole apple to them selves) i assured them the next event we would have more and to not worry do what we can with what we have and push on, Monachita gave a brief presentation on The Flux Army and they began to hand out the food, many asking why and could not understand why anyone would do this without wanting from them first.................
The event was a great success and went on into the late of the night bringing the community closer together and giving children many smiles and laughs, there are moments in life that acts humble us as people, and I can say to you with complete honesty, I have been truly Humbled by this act of kindness and hard work the Casanay Team put together and executed in with little time and preparation........
