Amazon deliveries with access to your garage

Unless you have been living under a rock you know or heard about porch pirates (the act of someone stealing your packages)

Amazon is getting ready to roll-out their Amazon Key program to home's equipped with garages and approved garage door openers.

What is the Amazon Key program?  It is an easy, safe way for apartment buildings, gated communities and residents to have their packages delivered and they can actually receive them.  Amazon is offering this for 'Free for Prime members'

How to set it up?

For home deliveries you can select garage delivery when you have a Genie Aladdin Garage opener:

Step 1: Go to the “Work’s With” section in the Aladdin Connect app, link your garage door to Amazon Key and activate In-Garage Delivery. 

Step 2: After shopping on Amazon.com, choose “In-Garage Delivery” at checkout. You’ll receive real-time notifications every step of the way, from shipping to delivery. 

Step 3: Drivers scan your package to receive one-time, secure access to open your linked garage. No need to share your code or open the garage door for them. 

Step 4: Amazon verifies the package and driver’s location before the garage door opens. The driver then places your delivery safely inside the garage and closes the door. Once the door is closed, drivers can no longer open the garage.  

Would you trust Amazon to secure your packages but granting them access to your garage or business entryway?  Any trepidation of garage snooping? How would you know?  Would you install a camera in the garage to watch them?
