A few thoughts on the Etiquette of Gratitude in Bars, Coffee Shops, and Restaurants
The question of whether to tip or not has always sparked discussions and raised eyebrows ofetn. Tipping, a practice adopted by many cultures, is an unspoken social etiquette where patrons and service providers engage in an obviously discreet dialogue. The details of this practice vary across establishments, leaving people wondering: to tip or not to tip?
At the center of the tipping practice lies the subtle relationship between customers and service staff. Tipping has been seen as a gesture of appreciation for good service, an appreciation sign, a simple thank you to the dedication and hard work that goes into crafting an unforgettable dining or drinking experience. Yet, as society and people is evolving, the once-standard 15-20% tip is no longer a one-size-fits-all rule. So, we see across various cultures and peoples different tipping preferences. What I prefer might not be suitable for your situation.

Some suggest that people are already receiving for their jobs a fixed salary so it is redundant to tip on top of the service charge. But, some say the salaries agreed already take into account the tipping, so, in that case, they are lower so giving a little extra motivates and properly rewards the service provide. Does it maybe signal an extra layer of acknowledgment for exceptional service?
Bars, with their unique blend of details that make up for an extraordinary atmosphere, the line between hospitality and transaction blurs. The talent of mixology and personalized service makes tipping seem not just ordinary, but an integral part of the experience.
As societal norms and economic structures evolve, the age-old question of tipping remains a controversial subject. I believe people will put as much value into anything they consider to be valuable to them and for most, the social meaning of eating out or being served a good meal or drink is a valuable experience. Even here on the web3 we use tipping and it can be a strong tool to build and encourage communities growth.
So, to tip or not to tip is a question that invites reflection on aspects of gratitude, service, and the unspoken language that connects us all.
