For a few years I found interesting how social media motivates and drives peoples' actions, in all fields of activity. Referring to Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, or the so called crypto world, is not a secret that Twitter and other social mediums have a direct impact on user psychology, investors' behaviours and prices. The social media is using peoples's emotions like greed and fear like in a game almost with the aim of getting something like attention or selling something to the audience. Some, if not most, is exaggerated and like in a bad movie, we all seem to react to the posts and behave in similar ways.
Trying to navigate the various social mediums and still keep feet on the ground is almost like mission impossible nowadays. We all try our best and what works for me will not be applicable to everyone. It also depends on each and everyones' attitudes and ethics. So, to keep it simple, I will make notes of the things that I learnt over the years and how I try to keep a balance between the outside social mediums and my actions, motivations or whatever keeps my boat floating.
Trying to stay mindful about why I am on social media in the first place
- asking questions like: why I am in this group or twitter following? Am I here to learn something, exchange information, make friends, improve myself, or ethics or for maybe all of the above? The more I ask these questions, the cleaner my social space becomes, because, this is how you learn to declutter and make maybe place for the things that really matter.
I also learnt that sources should be verified on multiple levels and not everything is true. Much of the content out there is meant to just grab attention or worse, plain scams.
- for making sure that I avoid clickbaits or scams, I simply read the information and go on the first instinct. Then if I still have doubts I go ahead and check information from multiple sources
Manipulation through social media will not disappear and cannot be controlled rightfully but we can try to critically think about it and be aware that is there. It impacts our lives and behaviours so looking at how we react is, maybe, a good starting point and have many benefits across all fileds, not just Bitcoin.
There a lot to say about this subject and I believe for now, I will stay to just these points. I am interested to see more in this area and currently reading a good thesis currently under work, published just now in May 2023 about how social media influences investors' behaviour which you can see in screenshot bellow:

So, do let me know what you recommend and thinks about this subject.
