Isn't it one of the most annoying things in the world?! We live in a society where we pay with our most precious currency, time, only for it to be wasted and not respected by others! Remember the days when meeting others, having plans and commitments was still fun? Remember when we used to spontaneously say "Hey, you want to watch a football match together next Friday?" and BOOM plan settled and everybody involved is looking forward to meeting on Friday? Remember when we used to look forward to chatting or sending messages to our friends and eagerly spending time together? Well, apparently that time is no more. Our society is f****d. We are so used to being CONNECTED online that we are getting DISCONNECTED from reality each and every single day.
People are no longer honest, interested or committed to socializing for the sake of socializing. People would rather tell you " I think I can make it" and then cancel on you at the last minute rather than say "Actually it's not really my thing" or "What if we do this instead?". Connecting with people is not only a social benefit but also a physical one. There are chemicals that are released when we are out enjoying ourselves with others when we build bonds with others when we build memories with others. Nowadays we are artificially overdosing on these chemicals through our phone. We would rather get our dopamine-intake from the likes we can get on Social media by hanging out with popular people than getting it naturally through meeting our own friends.
The worse part is, we are aware of our behaviour and we don't give a f***. The internet started out as a means of communication, information and connectivity. The dream we once had of creating this unity online where it doesn't matter where you're from, who you are or who you're related to, ended up desensitizing us from our reality.
For the love of anything, you believe holy. WAKE THE F*** UP. Ask yourselves this question. How would your life fair if one fine day you wake up and the internet is no longer present? How is that different from an addict who is so dependent on a substance where it takes priority over friends and family?
Look around you. The world is sick. Are you going to be part of the problem? Or part of the cure?
Your call. Rant over.
