A sub-genre of rock music, heavily influenced by the psychedelic drug culture of the 1960s. Artists like Cream, Jefferson Airplane, The Who, Pink Floyd, The Beatles. The list goes on and on.
Here are five of my favorite tracks - I hope you like them too!
The Doors - Strange Days
Jim Morrison and The Doors, who hasn't heard of them? Strange Days is the title track of their second album, and the first time they used synthesizers in the music.
Uriel - Queen St. Gang
This British band started out as a cover-band, but luckily also made original music in their short, one-year existence.
Funkadelic - Maggot Brain
A sister-band to Parliament, but with Funkadelic they went for a darker, psychedelic sound. I have nothing but love for the amazing guitar sounds of Eddie Hazel.
Jefferson Airplane - Volunteers
The title track of their controversial album, filled with political statements. Jefferson Airplane spoke out against the war in Vietnam.
Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade Of Pale
A Whiter Shade Of Pale was Procol Harum's debut track and one of the anthems of the Summer of Love.
