The average inflation for the U.S. dollar is about 2-3% a year. This means that if your boss doesn’t pay you an annual raise, you make less money each year.
There’s a lot of reasons why economists use inflation of currencies, and I’m not going to go into them. But we start with this idea of inflation and then compare it to Daddy Bitcoin. With BTC, there are 21 million coins and that is it. The total supply will never go above this amount. In contrast to the inflation mechanism of the U.S. dollar which increases the circulating supply in order to affect the price, BTC derives its value from, among other things, the cost of its production via electricity.
Then we have some crypto tokens that are even further away from the U.S. dollar. Starting in 2019, there was a trend of new cryptos under the theme of “deflationary” tokens. With each transaction, a portion of the crypto you sent was burned. A number of these turned out to be scams, like Claymore, which exit scammed quickly.
One token that has not exit scammed, and instead has been completely open and thorough and actually delivered on all its promises so far, is Aftershock (SHOCK).

What’s great about SHOCK is not just the built in deflationary burn, but the use of staking so holders of the token can increase their balances over time. This was the first currency to combine both deflationary burns with staking rewards. The novel feature was, expectedly, copied wholesale by other less honest projects.
Aftershock was distributed through airdrop campaigns. There have been three airdrops so far, with two more to come. you can find info about signing up for the air drops here:
The burn rate of each transaction is 6%. If you send 100 SHOCK, you will lose 6 SHOCK. Of that 6 SHOCK, half of it is burned into a burn wallet, while the other half is pooled into a rewards wallet. Holders of the token can then withdraw their rewards from the pool, based on the total amount of SHOCK they hold.
There is also a monthly “holders bonus”. If you have not sold your airdropped SHOCK, you get a monthly bonus for holding.
There are many rewards in place for people to hold their SHOCK instead of selling it all for pennies, as happens with many other airdrop coins. This has created a relatively stable price for SHOCK.
UNISWAP is the primary exchange for the token. There are future plans of a game of sorts to be released and continue building hype for the token. I have some from an airdrop and will continue to hold. The dev is explicit, avoiding ponzi-scheme language of “get rich” for a far more humble approach:
“We want everyone to have equal opportunity to try out Crypto. The token is in the hands of the community.”
