This has been a very hard and unreal past few days for us. Even worse for my 2 boys.

On the 27th of October, I received a call from the PA state police. They informed me that my ex-wife who had custody of our two boys was found dead in her house from an apparent drug overdose. I was told by a close family friend that she had 4 different drugs in her system and they suspect the heroin was laced with something.

Three weeks prior to her death something happened that will send chills up your spine. My ex and her boyfriend were selling and using meth and heroin for most of this past year as well as growing marijuana in the master bathroom. They would use meth and heroin in front of the kids and proceed to beat up my oldest and would then bet upon the youngest, and then on themselves. Many people would come and go and the kids would be taken on runs.

The boyfriend was a dangerous person involved with a lot of very bad people.   Authorities were looking for him and got my ex to start talking to help find him.   She knew the kids were in danger and one night asked a friend to rescue the boys while she distracted the boyfriend.   At 1am the father of my son's friends left work, drove to the house, and parked close by. He then asked where their room was with a text and pulled them out of their window and escaped to their car and took the boys to their house.    Her boyfriend was ultimately arrested and then she was found dead days later.

This has all happened in the past few weeks.   Prior to meeting her boyfriend she was doing well, had a very good job, and was a very career-driven person. You couldn't get her to eat a pot brownie much less stick a needle in her arm. She and the boys were doing well but when the bf came into the picture I was kept away. These past months I thought things were good and the kids were taken care of. I had no idea of the horror the kids were being put through. I have learned these past few days that the boys were told what to say at school and to me and only the best photos went up on social media giving an appearance of stability.

I was not prepared for this. My wife and I are both disabled and we each live on SSI @ $794 a month and have a two-year-old son. We thankfully have a three-bedroom mobile home which is small, around 900 sf. and we had an air mattress and a fold-out sofa. My oldest is afraid to even be in a room because he would be locked in and not allowed out so he is ok with the sofa bed. Last night he spilled some potatoes on the floor and started shaking because he was afraid he be in trouble.

This is so unreal and came as an absolute shock to everyone. My heart breaks for them.   They sold everything they had for drugs. The only things the boys had left fit into a regular kitchen trash bag. Everything even the vacuum was sold off. They lost all of their toys and clothes and anything they ever had during the three weeks they were out of the house, including their mother.

We now have custody of not only our 2-year-old but an 11 and 13-year-old.

I was told they saw them shooting up in front of them then the bf would beat my oldest. Then he and her would beat up each other. I don't know why no one ever contacted me. Even the friend who had them for three weeks had me on their friend's list on Facebook and never said a word to me about it. I hear one more week and they would have become their legal caregivers.

Her bf was being searched for by Marshals, she ended up talking to and helping the authorities. Then he got arrested. A few days later she was found dead in her home from an apparent drug overdose.  Her services will be held on the 10th of Nov. Just a few days away and a day after my wife's birthday.

My wife and I are contacting everyone we can to help us get a foothold in this new life we've all been thrust into without a moment's notice. Their school has offered to help with some of the special things they loved like their games and some toys. The school asked that I make a list with the boys of the things they lost and would do their best to help out. Things like clothes, the school said they would be happy to help with. They have been very gracious through this. The boys have been in the school district since kindergarten so they are known and loved by many.

Some of the things they want are possibly still in the house because an old blanket wouldn't have any monetary value to someone trying to sell it for drugs (I think). Their grandmother will be able to go in the house with an escort this weekend and will be looking for the boy's important documents and other belongings that the police let them remove from the scene.

If anyone reading this is able to lend an experienced hand to make a go fund me page or would like to help out in any way please let me know. We need to get them beds, clothes, shoes, winter stuff, personal care items, replacement documents, school stuff, dressers to put their things in. They don't even have jackets or 4 pairs of decent socks. Thankfully my youngest and I share almost the same size in clothes. My oldest is 5'9"! I'm only 5'5" so lol my clothes aren't going to help much.

If you can help with a donation of some kind it would be really helpful. If you can't, can you consider sharing this story?

Feel free to contact me at: jvirgo35(AT)gmail.com

If you'd like to help out with a few dollars it will help us get them clothes, care, and things they need.

Before her death, My ex-wife had planned on going trick-or-treating on Halloween with the boy's friend's parents. My wife and I didn't want to disappoint them anymore and drove back two hours so they could go out with their friends from school on the 31st. Jordan had a costume the friends parents got or gave him, Jeremy wanted to be the Joker so my wife spent hours trying to find one on the Facebook marketplace that was close and she found one.

We surprised him when we went to pick it up. They had no idea where we were going. We thought it would be a good mental break for them and they enjoyed the time. I'm so proud of my wife. She has stepped up and given them her full love and support and is always by my side. She truly is the most magnificent person I've ever known.
