I made the following video a while ago about AI tokens.

Have I changed my mind due to the good price performance of projects like Fetch.ai (FET) or Render Network (RENDER)? Not really. While the hype around these tokens has brought them into the spotlight, my perspective on their necessity and long-term value remains mostly unchanged.
That said, there’s one notable exception: Bittensor (TAO). Unlike many AI tokens that are riding the wave of speculation, Bittensor already boasts real applications. It isn’t just about potential use cases—it’s actively fostering a decentralized AI network where models collaborate, share knowledge, and grow stronger together. This feels like a step forward in building AI ecosystems that are both functional and decentralized.
The broader question is: do AI-focused tokens add value, or are they simply a layer of crypto marketing? In many cases, they’re just a fundraising tool with vague promises of AI integration. However, projects like Bittensor are demonstrating what’s possible when tokenomics align with real-world utility.
So, do we need AI tokens? For most projects, my answer is still “not really.” But when a project creates tangible value and real-world impact, like Bittensor is starting to show, it’s hard not to take notice.
What are your thoughts on AI tokens? Have you found any projects that genuinely stand out?
