I made a crypto video explaining my strategy, watch it below:
But for those who prefer to read, here is my strategy:
Today I want to share my "Pancake Strategy" which leverages two protocols: PancakeSwap and HyperLiquid to generate significant yield while hedging against price volatility.
The PancakeSwap Setup
PancakeSwap began as a fork of Uniswap on Binance Smart Chain but has since expanded to multiple blockchains including Arbitrum, Aptos, and others. To use this strategy, you'll need:
- A self-custodial wallet where you control your private keys (I use Rabby Wallet, but MetaMask or Rainbow work great too)
- Access to PancakeSwap.finance (be careful of phishing sites!)
Step 1: Provide Liquidity to Earn CAKE
I'm currently focusing on the ETH-AAVE trading pair. I chose AAVE because it had dropped to around $130 after previously reaching nearly $390, making it an attractive entry point in my view. The yield isn't spectacular, but by setting reasonable price ranges (I use ±10% - don't go too narrow like ±2% or your position will quickly go out of range), I'm able to earn steady CAKE rewards.
Step 2: Stake CAKE-ETH for Enhanced Returns
Instead of immediately selling the CAKE tokens I earn, I reinvest them into a CAKE-ETH liquidity pool that's currently offering around 150% APY! This significantly compounds my earnings from the first pool.
Managing Risk with HyperLiquid
The main risk with this strategy is CAKE price volatility. To hedge against potential CAKE price drops, I short sell CAKE on the HyperLiquid platform. This creates a hedge:
- If CAKE price rises: My PancakeSwap positions gain value
- If CAKE price falls: My short position on HyperLiquid profits
What makes this particularly attractive is that the funding rate for CAKE on HyperLiquid is positive, meaning shorts (like my position) get paid by longs. This creates additional yield.
For timing the exit of my short position, I watch the 4-hour chart and look to close around the $1.85 price level, though this requires some chart reading skills and market judgment.
