My AI FOMO is Gone, Now Everyone's Talking About This "RWA" Crypto Thing... Am I Missing Out Again? 🤔

By BreakdownFab | DecryptLab | 18 Jul 2024

Real World Assets (RWA) on the blockchain is the new buzzword, with projects like Mantra (OM) riding the wave. But what's the real deal?
In a nutshell, RWA tokens represent real-world assets (think stocks, real estate, commodities) on the blockchain. Sounds cool, right? But I'm skeptical.

Here's the catch: most RWA tokens need to be backed by the actual asset, often stored in a bank vault. So, we're essentially replacing a paper certificate with a digital one. Is this really the decentralized future we envisioned?
Projects like Mantra (OM) seem to be riding the hype train. But what happens when the hype dies down? If big players like Blackrock get involved, will they even use these smaller platforms? Or will they simply use at least established oracles like Chainlink (LINK)?

Don't get me wrong, RWA could have potential. But right now, it feels like a lot of speculation. So, while everyone else is chasing the next big thing, I'm taking a step back.

Remember, this is just my take. Do your own research, and don't invest more than you can afford to lose.
