Is Solana The easyJet of Crypto?

By Bfab | Good vibes | 7 Aug 2024

If you've ever flown with easyJet like I have, you know the frustration of waiting in line with your luggage that might be too big to go with you in the aircraft what means you may have to pay for extra fees...

Here is the thing: compared to traditional airlines, easyJet tickets are cheap, but most of the time you need to pay for extra fees, like speedy boarding or luggage check-in.

Well, I think that Solana is doing the same thing: it's much cheaper than Ethereum, but sometimes your transaction is stuck (because the network is congested) and hence you need to pay for extra fees to go through - which are called priority fees, a bit like easyJet's speedy boarding option...

That's very smart from Solana, because most people use them thinking it will be cheap but at the end of the day they paid more than on most Ethereum layer-2 chains, exactly like on easyJet when you buy a round trip London-Nice at EUR 50 but at the end paid at least twice this amount due to extra fees.

As I thought it might be interesting to explain better how it works, I made a 1 minute video about it. Click below to watch my latest YouTube video where I share everything I've learned about Solana's priority fees:
