How To Optimize Your AMPL Earnings On Publish0x?

By Bfab | Good vibes | 14 Jan 2023

As you all know, by writing and reading on Publish0x, you can earn Ethereum (ETH), Ampleforth (AMPL) or SPOT (SPOT).

As many articles have already been written on ETH and SPOT, this time I will focus on AMPL.

How does Ampleforth work?

Ampleforth is a cryptocurrency that uses a unique monetary policy called "rebase" to maintain a stable price.

The total supply of Ampleforth tokens is adjusted every 24 hours based on the previous day's trading volume and price. If the price is above the target price, the supply will increase (a "positive rebase"), and if the price is below the target price, the supply will decrease (a "negative rebase").

This means that the value of each individual token will fluctuate, but the total value of all tokens in circulation will tend to remain stable. The Ampleforth protocol uses smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain to automatically adjust the supply of tokens.

What is the best time to sell AMPL?

Although it is challenging to determine the best time to sell AMPL, you can check the rebase target price on ampleforth.org. You can also check rebase history on coin-tools.com:

In the exemple above, rebase price constantly remains at $1.14, and hence it seems to be a good time to sell... If everything goes right.

What happens if I withdraw AMPL to KuCoin?

KuCoin explains the impact on users as follows:

KuCoin will have a fixed time period (approximate time: Around 10 o'clock UTC+8) to adjust the AMPL amount every day. The main impacts of daily dynamic changes on KuCoin holding users are:

1. AMPL holdings in the account will change dynamically: including main account and trading account.

2. During this period, the deposit, withdrawal, and trade will not be available.

3. During this period, If there is an AMPL sell order, the system will automatically cancel the order when the adjustment should result in a reduction in the AMPL quantity.

4. During this period, if the rebase ratio is positive, the withdrawal will not be affected. If it is negative, the withdrawal order will be automatically canceled. The ongoing deposit during this period might be affected by the rebase.

5. The changes in the user AMPL quantity can be checked in the main account and trading account details.

Although the sentence "The ongoing deposit during this period might be affected by the rebase" could make you anxious, there is nothing to worry about if you withdraw from Publish0x to KuCoin. I did it several times and always got as much as what I withdrew from Publish0x. As mentioned in the email received upon withdrawal:

If you log into your KuCoin account you should be able to see your payment by visiting the "My Bonus" section of the site and look under "Other Awards".

Therefore, withdrawals to KuCoin are easy, and anyway much cheaper than on-chain ($0.5 vs. $5...), and the best time to withdraw AMPL is on Sunday before 6 pm UTC when the rebase price target is higher than 1.
