So Zcash (ZEC) absolutely pumped recently, and naturally I started digging into what's happening on-chain. When I checked DEX daily volumes, something caught my eye—ZEC/NEAR has been showing the highest volume on Rhea Finance lately.
That got me thinking about an opportunity.
Here's What I Did
I borrowed ZEC on Rhea Finance and immediately swapped it for NEAR, which I'm now staking. Let me break down why this made sense to me:
The Logic Behind the Move:
The ZEC pump created a perfect window. With all this volume and attention on ZEC, borrowing costs were still reasonable on Rhea. Meanwhile, NEAR staking yields remain solid, and I'm bullish on NEAR's fundamentals medium-term.
Why Rhea Finance?
I've been using Rhea for a few weeks now, and honestly, the lending/borrowing rates are competitive. The interface is clean, transactions settle fast, and the liquidity for ZEC/NEAR pairs is actually there when you need it—which isn't always the case on smaller DEXs.
The Risk I'm Managing:
Obviously, if ZEC keeps pumping hard and NEAR doesn't keep pace, I could get squeezed on the borrowed position. I'm watching my collateral ratio closely and have alerts set up. But that's the game with leverage, right? The staking rewards on NEAR are basically offsetting my borrow costs while I wait to see how this plays out.
Why I'm Sharing This
Look, I'm not a financial advisor, and this isn't advice. But I think there's real alpha in paying attention to where volume is actually flowing on these smaller DEXs. Rhea has been under the radar for a lot of people, but the numbers don't lie.
If you want to check it out yourself, I've got a referral link here. We both get points if you use it, which is a nice bonus on top of whatever strategies you're running.
Bottom line: ZEC's move created an interesting opportunity to rotate into NEAR while earning staking yields. The high volume on Rhea made the execution smooth, and now I'm just managing the position and watching how the market develops.
Anyone else playing similar strategies with the recent ZEC momentum? Would love to hear how you're thinking about it.
Note: This is my personal trading activity and shouldn't be considered financial advice. Crypto is risky, leverage is riskier. Do your own research and never borrow more than you can afford to lose.
