"Dead Rock Commandos" is the name of the brilliant 2012 album of the greek stoner rockers that was released through the American Small Stone Recordings. I do not think that in this case I need to write a CV, since few people who will bother to read this, will not know who Nightstalker are. On the market for 20 years and although they do not have a tremendous record presence, their songs have become a cult and will remain in our minds for many years.
After the amazing "Superfreak" of 2009, Argyris and his friends return three years later to make us shake our heads rhythmically. Classic Nightstalker sound, with the familiar "underground" voice of Argyris, and guitars with staccato riff that we have become so accustomed to in previous years.
"Dead Rock Commandos" has slightly slower speed than its predecessor, but this is not bad. The album "Go Get Some" which opens the album, has already made the rounds through the internet and has sown hope. The eponymous track ("Dead Rock Commandos") seems to be an autobiography of the band, but my favorite moments in this work are the 2 tracks that follow ("One Million Broken Promises", "Children of the sun").
This time, Nightstalker have given weight to psychedelic elements (gushing in tones in "Back To Dirt") and that's why some rock 'n' roll fans may be spoiled, but I would recommend giving them a second chance and listen carefully to the album.
