Hello everyone, There has been a lot of hype about the Fantom ecosystem in recent months. Many investors bridge their funds across to take advantage of some great yields on the FTM network. In today's article I'm going to teach you how to bridge to the Fantom network with a Metamask wallet.
How to add Fantom Network to MetaMask.
The first thing you need to do if you want to use Fantom is set up a wallet. To add Fantom to MetaMask, simply enter the data below at Settings, Networks, Add Network.
Network Name: Fantom
RPC Url: https://rpc.ftm.tools/
ChainID: 250
Symbol: FTM
Block Explorer URL: https://ftmscan.com/
How to Bridge to the Fantom Network
There is a wide range of bridges available for Fantom. SpookySwap website is one of them. I have found this to be my favorite bridge mainly because they make everything so simple. The first thing you want to do is to click on "bridge" icon. When you first get to this it is going to say please connect your wallet to the chain you wish to bridge from. Select token you want to bridge and check that the amount you have entered is within the minimum and maximum supported by Anyswap.
After selecting a chain and token to bridge simply click on "Bridge Token" then click confirm on your MetaMask. Bridging takes quite a long time. It could take 10 mins to even a few hours. Patience is the key ingredient in this spell. You can view your Bridged Token on FTMscan to see if it arrived. To view the token you've just bridged over on your wallet, connect your wallet to Fantom Opera, and add the ability to display the token that you bridged:
- Go to Swap
- Click on a token button to summon the token selection list
- Find the token you've just bridged, or import it with its address on Fantom Opera
- Click on the "+" to add to your wallet display
The fee for bridging to Fantom Opera is either free or around $1, depending on the token. The fee for bridging out of Fantom Opera ranges $1 ~ 0.1% of funds being bridged, depending on the token.
Special Case
To bridge ETH, before carrying it onto the bridge you need to wrap your ETH first. When you select wETH as your token, the site will remind you to wrap Ethereum. Native Ethereum must be wrapped to be brought off the Ethereum mainnet.
