Fidelity Funds - Polar Capital Global Technology Fund I Income - POGTU

One of my main means on investment is via ETFs, funds and index trackers with the Fidelity Platform (in the UK).  The second best performing fund I've invested in since starting investing with Fidelity (in May 21) is the Polar Capital Global Technology Fund I Income (POGTU).  Polar Capital says the fund aims for growth via 'investing in a globally diversified portfolio of technology companies'.

As can be seen above, the fund has had a few blips on the way - it was relatively flat over July, and took a hit during September - however, most markets took a hit during September.  But over the months from May, I've had a pretty good return from it - 16.5% for an equivalent APR of 34.41%.   Due to its performance, I've continued to invest in it, and now hold 4 times as much of it as I initially bought in July.  If performance continues, I'll continue to add more.

As per below, it is heavily biased towards US stocks, and then Asian.

The top stock holdings are probably not a surprise (see below).  It has a very similar top 10 stock holding to another good performing tech fund I hold (LGTXA), with 8 being the same - and the differences being Advanced Micro Devices Inc and the option on the Nasdaq 100.  Although the asset distribution is quite different from LGTXA, with LGTXA having close to 28% of the fund just within Apple (14.45%) and Microsoft (13.49%) alone.  So POGTU provides a greater diversification in general looking at the distribution across the top 10.

As per below, the fund has shown good strong growth over the last 5 years.  There are the odd bumps, but the general direction of travel is fairly clear, and although there is a minor dip for covid in early 2020, you can see it recovered quickly and carried on climbing.

It has a high ongoing charge of 1.10% which is one of the bigger draw backs, but as long as it keeps performing, it will comfortably clear that each year with quite a margin.

In Summary

I'm pretty happy with the fund performance over the time I've invested in it with an equivalent return of 34.41% APR from the 10th of May 21 to the 1st of Nov 21.   The charges are high, but I'll keep tabs on it monthly, and continue to accumulate while its doing well.

I'm always looking out for other funds to diversify across within the Fidelity UK platform, so please do drop any tips you may have in the comments.
