You Fight, WE Cry-

28 Conflicts

Oh, the world is torn apart,
By twenty-eight conflicts,
Each one a burning scar,
On humanity's heart.

In Ukraine, bombs fall,
And innocent lives are lost,
While Israel and Palestine,
Fight a battle that costs.

Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan,
The list goes on and on,
Conflicts that tear families apart,
And leave children all alone.

Why do we shoot at each other,
Instead of shooting for the stars?
Why do we hate each other,
Because of our colors or our scars?

We all bleed the same ink red,
No matter our race or creed,
So why can't we put aside our differences,
And plant a lovelier seed?

It's 2024, and we still fight for land,
Bringing up metal walls,
When we should be holding each other's hands.
Dejavu once again, the broken world record replays.

The alarm clock rings, a piercing sound,
Time to wake up, time to be found.
I open my eyes, look up to the sky,
And say thank you, for another day to try.

I live to fight another day,
To gain land, to find my way.
But why? I ask myself, as I look in the mirror,
All I see is a monster, a creature of fear.

So I start today, I put my shields down,
I put all my metal on the ground.
I go to my neighbor, and say, "I'm here,
How can I help? How can I bring cheer?"

I'm tired of fighting, tired of being afraid,
I'm ready to build, a world that's well-made.
I'm ready to love, to give and to share,
To show the planet, that we can all care.

Dear mirror I got a confession to make,
I want you to know, I won't grow,
if I don't make this change.
so i need to finally say this naked,
I love you.
