The Great Horned Owl Family

I was at a local park when I looked up in the trees to see what birds and creatures were watching and lurking. To my surprise I saw a baby great horned owl watching and waiting for mom or dad to come back with food. I say baby, but I don't know for sure how old it was, I'm just assuming it wasn't old enough to fly yet as I never saw it move where I saw the two adults moving to different trees. 

Here is the little owl sitting right next to/above the nest

and with it turned around

Looking around I found the parents watching for anything to move that they could snatch up not too far from the nest.

I'm glad that I looked up that day and saw this magnificent family of owls. 

I came back a week or two later and they were all gone unfortunately. I checked every tree in the park.
