Top 3 Explanations For the Origin of Life on Earth
1.) ABIOGENESIS
It is hypothesized that life arose from inorganic lifeless matter more than 3.5 billion years ago on Earth given it's extreme environmental conditions back then.
Abiogenesis proposes that the first life-forms generated were very simple and would only obtain energy from an external source (UV) and through a gradual process became increasingly complex.
Those existing life forms began to reproduce on their own and evolved over time. Abiogenesis then became impossible once the Earth’s atmosphere changed into what it is today.
2.) PANSPERMIA
It is suggested that life could have already existed on another planet and it just moved to Earth.
So if that's the case, does that mean we are actually the aliens in this planet?
It is already observed that bacteria can survive the harsh environments of the outer space. Furthermore, there are evidences that amino acids, carbon, or even bacteria itself can be deposited and protected inside of meteorites.
Hence, it is possible that microorganisms may originated from elsewhere and traveled to Earth via meteorites.
3.) INTELLIGENT DESIGN
What if we were all just created by an intelligent designer? A powerful God perhaps.
This God, with his divine powers created life with their distinctive features already intact, and that biological evolution didn't take place.
The idea is that the functional parts and systems of all living organisms are “irreducibly complex,” in the sense that none of their component parts can be removed without causing the whole system to cease functioning.
Life is so perfect and complex that it is so improbable (next to impossible) for it to exist by chance. Hence, it must have been created.
