Derick Chauvin was convicted today. That is troubling in a few ways. First, a police officer with four stars on his collar testified on his behalf. BLM doxed him and released his home address; vandals threw pigs' blood on his house and committed other acts of vandalism. As humans, the police are now seeing the mob rule, and the political elites are against them. If a police officer does his job and the mob inflamed by self-serving agitators come after them, they are sure to lose in a court of law. BLM activists were cheering that they got a guilty verdict in this case. It was never going to be a fair trial.
The next troubling thing is Rep. Maxine Waters telling the mob to be more confrontational towards the police if Chauvin was acquitted. Joe Biden is Saying on National TV that he prays for a conviction. The jurors knew Rep Waters and Joe Biden made these statements; the judge ordered the jury not sequestered for the trial. The police are now confident that there are no friends in court if the charges are politically sensitive.
Riots have broken out after the Chauvin conviction. It was predictable the Antifa and or BLM would riot. Various members of Congress have stated that the riots should continue and get worse. Police now know they are the sacrificial lambs on the altar of Political Correctness.
These two facts will cause the police to stop enforcing the law. It is human nature to want to distance yourself from possible harm. The police now either give the criminals a pass, or they better have an excellent lawyer to defend them. In the case of Derick Chauvin, no lawyer in heaven or on earth could have prevented his conviction. In large cities, the police are stepping back; many are retiring if they have enough years to qualify. The rest are waiting for the ax to fall on their careers. The Defund the police movements that are stripping the police of resources and protections. A goal of the communist is to deny the police their authority and put the power of arrest in the hands of social workers and other government officials. In NJ., a Child Protective Service agent can, at their discretion, take a child out of the home and put them in foster care. If the parent argues or tried to prevent the removal, the agent can order them arrested. CPS agents in NJ carry handcuffs for this purpose. Citizens are also at a loss, not knowing if the police will respond to a call for help or stand down due to fear of being caught in a politically sensitive and untenable situation. Race-baiting activists are always looking for another George Floyd incident to exploit for financial and political gain.
I believe that the police will leave the various forces moving to private security companies, leaving the people with as much justice as they can afford to buy. A book from the 70s' Snowcrash gave a fantastic view of a post-US world where justice depended on how much money you had to bribe the police. Very soon, that will be the reality in the US. I hope that the anarchist now using the court system to destroy the country will quickly be stopped. I doubt it will happen in the next year or two.
As a postscript to this article, Rep. Rashida Tlaib calls for the End of Policing and incarceration. In other words, we would go back to the wild west days of justice by handgun. Mobs of angry citizens will attack anyone using aside-arm in self-defense. The couple in St Louis came to mind when the media vilified them for standing in their front yard with weapons when BLM broke down the gate to their community. The libel and slander will be worse for any police officer involved in a politized shooting.
