Boundaries are a critical function of being a human being and they're not necessarily something we've been taught how to set well growing up. They're not a way of putting up walls, keeping people out or other victim and toxic behaviour.
We must be open and embrace our teams, be willing to share our wins and losses with them. A rising tide raises all ships after all. And let's not forget that pain shared is pain divided and happiness shared is happiness multiplied! It's easy to forget that as a DAO we are a global organization. We have people all over the world. How does that benefit us?
The line is the fact that crypto is a 24/7, 365 industry. As one person, trying to keep up even to a full-time position can be a lot at times (coordinators; seasonal planning, need I say more?).
Relying on our team to stand in our absence is key. Trust them, trust the processes that have been designed and laid out for everyone to follow. That's what they're there for.
It's time we stop acting like tradcorps!
You heard that right, we're acting too much like TradCorps. We're working our contributors to the bone. Part of that, yes, is that it's hard to find quality talent that performs. When we do, if they buy into our mission they get caught into a cycle of building & burning out. 1 way to mitigate this is to establish teams based on time zones to have 24/7 coverage.
Another is for contributors to set their hours. Yes, it's hard. Yes, some people may frown upon that at first, and that's okay. What's going to happen when you set your dedicated hours?
- You have time for other areas of life you need to tend to
- You're able to plan recharge time
- You can decompress and clear up mental real estate
- You're more focused and productive when you return.....
- Which leads to being more effective....
- And getting more done in less time, that's productivity!
- Everyone wins when we prioritize our self-care and establish our boundaries.
Journaling is free therapy!
I once had a mentor that would say; "Each day you need to take 3 shits: mental, emotional, physical, first thing in the morning!" What does that even mean?
It means we're all carrying onto things that are acting like anchors in our lives. We've all been physically bloated and know the feeling of relief when we finally get to that toilet. What about emotional and mental dumps?
Journaling lets us get out our emotional baggage and regrets to refocus and realign around what we need to do right. The mental dumps help us free up mental real estate so we have more capacity to focus and engage on what's in front of us - no distractions.
Take a breath!
I have to breathe to live, what do you mean take a breath?! A quick google search on the health benefits of meditation and breathwork will lead you down a rabbit hole of information about emotional and mental control. If our monkey mind is running rampant with negative thoughts, apprehension, anxiety, we get sloppy and make unnecessary mistakes in life. It's hard to focus, our spouses and friends complain we're emotionally unavailable or distracted.
It's great for arousal control, can help us unlock flow state, and has a ton more health benefits we won't cover here.

Move often
You don't have to do a lot necessarily, you do however need to be consistent. Going for walks outside, bodyweight or callisthenics training, moving heavy stuff goes a long way.
Not only does it get out blood flowing and energy up, it helps with digestion and other organ functions. Being sedentary for too long we become stiff as a board. Our bodies lock up, we gain weight, we lose mobility, and often our hips and back are the first things to go in old age.
Moving often, consistently, every day will help mitigate a lot of the damage we're doing to our physiology with the nature of our work. We can also use our training as a way to test our mental and emotional fortitude or resiliency. Which in turn makes the rest of our day seem pretty easy in comparison.
Fuel accordingly
Food is fuel. It's neither good nor bad yet it's what we make of it.
- Drinking at least half of our bodyweight in water every day
- Top up your nutritional intake with supergreens
- Reduce processed food consumption
- Primarily eat whole foods; high nutrients & low calories
By taking these steps and a few more you'll be ensuring your body is hydrated and fuelled accordingly throughout the way. You'll also be doing it in a way that mitigates excess calorie intake as you're hunched over your computer every day.
Your mood, emotional state, your whole physiology will thank you for it. It will be an adjustment at first. After all, most of us are used to living our lives feeling like garbage all the time.
However, proper fuel, nutrition, sleep, and boundaries will have you eliminating burnout pretty quickly!
