If a poet launches a book of poems into the world
because he needs to pay the rent,
we will tolerate it.
But if he is not guided by a commercial purpose
and instead does so
assuming that the world
needs to read his ramblings quickly and eagerly:
we will lash out at his vanity
with angry launches
of every tomato or other fruit we find within our reach.
Let the metaphysical poet die once and for all.
Let the financial poet be resurrected once and for all.
