Finally, the day arrived. Lucas had gone to pick up Sandra, and waiting at the door was Álvaro. The three of them headed straight for the square, analyzing the situation along the way, though they all knew there wasn’t much they could do.
They were among the first to arrive and sat on a bench, waiting for the others. After a while, everyone had gathered around the bench, ready to finish the conversation that had been left unresolved the week before.
At first, no one spoke, so Lucas had to start the conversation. Once he did, things became easier. The problem was laid out on the table—people didn’t want to change, and that was the end of it. The group split into two:
Seven people went one way (this group included Marcos), and the rest took another path (among them Lucas, Jorge, Héctor, Sandra, and Daniel).
A few weeks later, Marcos called Jorge to apologize. He had realized he had chosen the wrong group but only figured it out a little too late. After that, he officially rejoined Lucas, Héctor, Dani, and, of course, Jorge.
With the group now smaller, they could adapt their plans more easily. Many activities that were impossible before—because if one person bailed, the entire plan would fall apart like dominoes—were now doable.
