– So why did you lie? You could have gone home earlier! Why did you do that?
– I didn't want to leave you alone. – Lucas answers looking at the floor. – Besides, I got something good out of staying with you, right? Now I know how to solve equation problems.
Sandra looks at him. She can't believe it. Lucas stayed with her so she wouldn't be alone. That's why he was so quiet at recess when Hugo asked about permission.
– Lucas, you really surprised me, but you didn't need to stay with me, really. I think I could have survived the loneliness of the afternoon session. But well, there's nothing you can do now, right? Thank you, really, for staying. – says Sandra smiling.
– You're welcome. That's what friends are for. For both the good and the bad. – Lucas answers with a smile.
And the bell rings. End of the school day for that day. The two boys gather their things, put them in their backpacks and prepare to leave for their respective houses. On the way they start talking about everything: movies, books… And more specifically about the Harry Potter books! They are both true fans of the saga. They love it. “I love it!” as Lucas says. That is a surprise for Sandra. She didn’t know that Lucas also liked Harry Potter.
When they reach a square near their houses, they say goodbye.
– See you tomorrow, Sandra! Today is strictly forbidden to study. Okay? – Lucas laughs.
– I wasn’t going to do it, don’t worry. Today we deserve it. A free afternoon to spend it on whatever we want. – says Sandra. – See you tomorrow, Lucas. See you tomorrow!
– See you tomorrow!
Sandra heads home very happy. Friends? Lucas said in the library that they are friends, and that friends are there for both good and bad times. Is it true that they are? It's too early to tell, they've only known each other for a few months, but to start with, it started like all good things start, with a good conversation.
