Why is it made in the shape it is made in?
For looks? Easy to tuck in your hat? Just to be different?

Sorry, but there is a good bit of science and real world know how put into the deign of these wonders! And you do not have to be a Carpenter to use them either!!!

A normal pencil will roll on a not flat surface, but our friend the Carpenters Pencil, he holds his ground.

Need to make a quick measurement of ¼” or ½” and don’t have a tape measure or ruler on hand, but you do have a Carpenters Pencil? You are in luck my friend! The narrow side of a Carpenters Pencil is ¼” wide, and the larger flat side is ½” wide!

Needing to space Deck Boards ¼” apart so water drains correctly? Use your Carpenter’s Pencil! No need to make a special spacer or constantly get your tape or ruler out.

Carry two carpenters pencils and now you have a quick easy way to measure 1 inch!

Need another reason to carry 2 Carpenters Pencils? Sharpen the ends differently!

  • SCRIBE:
Sharpen it to a very sharp off set to one side point and now you have a scribe! Just hold the body of the pencil against the wall and now mark your piece.

  • BLUNT edge:
For marking on rough surfaces. This method of sharpening will create a marking edge that can stand up to concrete and brick!

  • ULTRA FINE LINES:
Take your time and you can achieve extremely fine edges to make extremely fine marks!

  • Recently they have come out with a new gimmick for sharpening Carpenters Pencils. It is basically an old fashioned round pencil sharpener sized up... I purchased two versions of this design and tried them both...  SAVE YOUR MONEY AND WALK ON BY!

One other lesser known fact is the chemical composition of the lead and graphite in the Carpenters Pencil is much harder than a number 2 pencil. This way it can stand up to rougher use and retain its edge/point much longer.

Now you know more about our friend the Carpenters Pencil! Use it to make your life easier, and share with your friends to make their lives easier!

So when you need to mark something that is not paper, grab that Carpenters Pencil and get at it! You will save time and get better results.

WAIT! I just remembered one of the Art Teachers back in High School used to sware by Carpenters Pencils for making sketches! He showed us how he could better control the pencil when compared to a cheapo #2...

Remember, we are all in this together! Keep your powder dry!
