It took me a little time before greeting you all with my first contribution to our community here. HI to all of YOU! :)
What a ride it was last month and half. Close to a burn-out, we've finally reached the end of an important RFP/offer process. Monday is deadline towards the prospect and I expected to work round the clock this weekend. However, today we've decided we will not submit our bid. After a lot of discussions in the team as well as with management; It was decided the risks we have to take to position ourselves to win, are to high to be acceptable.
"SHIT!" was my initial reaction: "All work for nothing!"
As always in such - for the company - complex solutions that are way off from standard, we've learned a lot, hence making this exercise worthwhile. On top of that: Good for me, no working this weekend! But you now what? Have this strange feeling I'll end up being bored this weekend. After 6 weeks of continuous work, including the weekends, minus a few days over the holidays; I skipped everything else what has to do with a life outside the office. Pffffff, now I need to find that life again! Will have to spend some time today to search for it :)
One of the good things - before all of this started - was the discovery of a new concept: Electronic Music back to its core. Intimate surrounding, Underground location, No commerce, Low prices combined with Great Music and Fantastic Openminded People! It was a Sunday afternoon back in November, I went to their first event in this small (new) location somewhere in the northern part of Amsterdam.
Oh boy! What an afternoon we had! Instead of staying just for a short drink, we found ourselves leaving in the later evening when our stomaches couldn't handle it anymore and needed food, badly. What a shame we didn't prepare, so we would be able to go through the rest of the night till early morning. Sure, we could've returned after dinner, but once out, stomaches full, I usually can't find the energy anymore to jump right back into a party going strong. But, no complaints at all; Had a great 6-ish hours or so and super happy I had the chance to be part of this event.
To get a flavour of the music played that afternoon, I've included a recent set of one of the residents; One of the new and upcoming talents: MARRØN. Need to warn you though! This set is not to be listened to while chilling on the couch, or hanging around the house; Space is required for serious dancing.
