LAOS: Top Shots of 2020

Just like you, I had a crazy 2020. I started the year off managing a resort, but had my first Thanksgiving Day ever feeling hungry, lonely, and unemployed. Even though it was a terrible year, I still capture some beautiful memories I'd like to share with you. Please enjoy this collection of photos I shot while living in Luang Prabang, Laos.

This is in the capital city, Vientiane. Even though it was an early January day, it was scorching hot. I had a twelve hour layover, so I walked around thirty kilometers taking photos and sweating like a Sith in the Jedi Temple. I used an old second hand iPhone 5 for this shot, but with the clear day and the sun to my six, it made the cut.

I often refer to Luang Prabang as The Garden of Eden. Its nickname is Asia's Hidden Gem. It's an ancient town with French influence going back hundreds of years. It is a World Heritage Site which helps keep it a natural and beautiful place. I feel very lucky to have spent my lockdown here. I've never had to wear a mask and was free to go around all year. Most foreigners have gone home giving the few of us expats left with a feeling like we're getting a long private tour of this wonderful place.

LPQ is a wonderful jewel hidden in South East Asia. It was the ancient capital and is currently protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
