If you have been reading my articles or following me for some time then you will know that I love the Theta Network. I think Theta is a crypto currency focused company that is actually changing the landscape and making a name for themselves and will out last most other tokens out there. You see people post articles about all these other tokens and projects and how they are making so much money with Pancake or Snowflake or Volcano or whatever the new fad token thing is. Theta is not that. Theta is a beast of a company that has the backing of Google and Samsung just to name a few.
Theta is taking the digital media landscape and not even revolutionizing it but merely making it usable on a grand scale. For a good example just look at the Brave Browser. They browser to blocks ads isn't anything new but they have changed what the end user gets out of it. They get paid for their time. And their business model is one that will be around for a while. Theta is the same.
If you want to watch a video online. That video file has to be physically located somewhere on a hard drive. Depending on what platform you are getting the video from it is probably in a Datacenter somewhere. Datacenters are great and we will always need them in some capacity but Theta is changing the overall dependency on them. With Theta and specifically Theta.tv when you want to watch a live stream of someone or any video they are hosting you are pulling that video not from a datacenter but from some other person who is also watching it and relaying the video to you. It is a network of people all watching the video and sharing it with people.
What Theta does then is gives you TFUEL (the gas token) for the bandwidth you use to share the video. They can do this because they are not paying as much money to Datacenters to host video's and can have normal people host videos. So if you take a look at my beautiful diagram, The blue circle is the person live streaming. The Teal color circles are people that are physical close to the blue guy who are watching his stream. The Teal people in turn are relaying the video to the green circles and so on and so on. When those colored circles relay video to more people they earn TFUEL.
What the Theta team has done as well is create a Theta Edge Node. Which is a little piece of software that relaying videos for you automatically without you having to do anything. You can think of it as "mining" TFUEL if you want because you will earn passive TFUEL for just letting it run. They also added a "Folding @ Home" portion to it to use your CPU to "mine" more TFUEL.
In the month of February I ran the Theta Edge Node near 5 9's of availability. And I was running the Edge Cache and Edge Compute and earned 105.7099 TFUEL for that.
The part of the Edge Node is the staking of TFUEL. Now you have to have at least 10,000 TFUEL to stake. But once you have that amount in your Theta Wallet you can stake it. You do not earn a lot by any means but if you already have the TFUEL then you might as well stake it and earn more. In February I earned 8.1292 TFUEL
In February I earned 113.8391 TFUEL which is worth $14.34. For doing nothing that isn't bad at all. If we figure out how much TFUEL I have in total after February is paid out then I have 10,803 TFUEL worth $1,360. Guys this is amazing. I earned my TFUEL by running the Edge Node over the past year. This is pure profit and I think that TFUEL will get up to at least $0.30 by the end of the year.
What is interesting is that 3 months ago I earned 203 TFUEL, 2 months ago I earned 156 TFUEL, and last month I earned 113. So I am definitely earning less as time goes on which sucks.
Now to make things more fun I have a NFT that I need to give away. It is another token that I support and have great faith in... Nano!
