Alright folks I think I am going to start to do these updates in relation to the Brave Browser. Publish0x seems to LOVE Brave posts and it seems that everyone and their mother like to post the same thing. To not let things fall through the cracks I bring you updates to Brave and the Brave team since my last post (here).
Brave Sync 2 available for Android + Desktop
Aug 12th, 2020
Starting with version 1.12 (for both) you can actually sync between your Desktop browser and Android Browser fully. Sync was always a little weird with Brave so it's nice to see them really flush out the problems and offer a feature rich implementation of it. The new Sync is called "Sync v2". Here is what you can sync now across devices:
- Bookmarks
- Passwords
- Autofill Data
- History
- Open Tabs
- Extensions
- Themes
- Settings
- Apps
Keep in mind this is a fresh implementation so if you already had sync setup you will need to setup a new Sync chain across your devices. Also this does NOT include Brave Rewards. You can however connect your uphold wallet to four instances.
New Trading Widget - Gemini
Aug 27th, 2020
Starting with Desktop version 1.13 there is a new widget on the right hand side of the New Tab screen. You can trade any asset that is listed on the Gemini Exchange from the widget. The real cool thing with this update is that if you are a Brave Creator (super easy to setup) you can withdraw your earning into a Gemini Wallet. Which means you are not solely limited to Uphold anymore.
You do need a Gemini account to use it though. To be clear this was announced in July but implemented in August.
Active Users
Brave has announced they have passed 16.7 million monthly active users. They also stated there are 5.7 million daily active users.
Brave Research
There wasn't a lot of movement in the month of August but I would highly suggest taking this website for a quick read through.

Brave Research is a team of Brave Employees who are super smart trying to push the boundaries of Brave and the ad ecosystem. Take "SpeedReader" for example. They are constantly trying to create a better 'reader mode' for the browser that will reduce your network footprint and will render quicker. They literally are trying to save time and money at every corner. But not their time and money, they are trying to save us time and money.
