The Crash

Last night, very late, my desktop bombed.

I'm talking catastrophic failure.

BSoD, black screen on reboot, disk grinding constantly.

Shit happens, right?

Only... that desktop has all my crypto stuff on it. 

Everything.

Wallets, logins, my Excel workbook I use for this blog, private keys, everything.

Why You Should Care

Because this can happen to you, too.

I didn't do anything weird or unusual. The computer just decided to die, horribly.

What would you lose if your device - whatever it is - did the same thing, today?

Do you have backups of all your wallets?

Do you have all your private keys written down?

Do you have a backup of your 2FA info?

Do you know all your logins and passwords?

Do you have copies of everything else important?

What would losing all your email mean to you?

The Good News

I have all that.

Thankfully, I've always been a computer person. I've always worked in IT and lived online.

I was prepared by default, rather than realising too late.

I have a daily backup script that runs every time I start the computer.

It includes daily email backups (though I'll be switching more accounts to IMAP instead of POP).

It includes wallet backups.

I have my keys stored safely.

I have a backup of my 2FA info.

I know my logins.

The only thing broken was War Thunder, and I just deleted the dead file and it fixed itself automatically.

Don't Wait

If you don't have backups of all that stuff, do it.

Today.

Trust me, it's worth it for the relief you'll feel when the Very Bad Thing happens!
