Citycoin is providing a platform where cities and other municipalities can create their own coins on the Bitcoin blockchain to establish another revenue stream. It provides an opportunity by rewarding those whom contribute to the city coins and other governments. The Citycoin is powered by Stacks ($STX) and is traded on Okcoin.com (https://www.okcoin.com/join/600096667). The supporters for Citycoin are well known in the crypto industry and are listed on the CityCoin site. This is always a positive to see those involved with the project such as: Patrick Stanley, Ryan Hoover, Balaji Srinivasan, and Amanda Cassat. The project also has a lot of utility on giving back to the community when the city or municipality decides to draw funds from their accounts.
I really like this novel approach to generating revenue and rewards for a specific community. Like social tokens, Citycoins provide opportunities to a specific city or set group of people that have interest in developing their respective communities on the cryptoverse and reaping the rewards in real life with improved infrastructure or community events. One city that has recently been in the news is Miami. They created Miami ($MIA) in coordination with Citycoin. If you stake $MIA, investors receive the STX token as a reward, while the city receives revenues from the miners and those staking their coins.
Miami Coin is, as it sounds, a coin for the City of Miami, Florida. $MIA is the first token created that has gone to market on the Stacks protocol. A total of 30% of the miner’s STX tokens are given to the city token towards the city designated wallet where the city can tap into when they are ready to withdraw the funds. Another positive for $MIA is the first blockchain protocol to receive SEC approval under Regulation A+. As more people invest in $MIA the more value it could potentially generate and also be used to make payments for future vendors that accept cryptocurrency such as PayPal or Visa.
This article is for informational purposes only. Do your own research. At the time of this article $MIA is trading at $0.04 and is not yet ranked on CoinGecko. STX and Citycoin ($CITY) are $1.37 at #79 and $0.10 at no ranking, respectively from CoinGecko.
