What is RAMADAN? | My Experiences in the Maldives & Iran

I was born and raised Jewish, yet I have spent the entirely of Ramadan in Muslim countries the past 3 weeks -- The Maldives and Iran.

(Note, this video is 2 weeks delayed) To be honest with you, the more I travel in Islamic countries and surround myself with Muslim people, the more amazed I am by how humble and hospitable they are.

Similar situations have happened to me in Oman, Tajikistan, Kuwait, Morocco, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE and Jordan (to name a few).

I openly tell people in these countries that I am Jewish, and I've never had a single person discriminate againt me for my religion.

Ramadan is the month-long Islamic holiday where billions of Muslims around the world fast from sunrise to sunset every day.

It has been a pleasant surprise to learn about this holy month of Ramadan, which is about to end this weekend, so I wanted to make this video to give you an inside look of how I've discovered Ramadan.

Going back to the religion thing -- there is a big misconception that being "Jewish" is unsafe for traveling around the Middle East or Arabic/Islamic countries.

I don't know why people think this way, because from my experiences of telling people I am Jewish, the opposite happens -- they become more curious and want to get to know me!
