The highlight of my trip to North Korea last April was running in the Pyongyang Marathon!
It was the ONLY time that I was able to leave our tour group, and freely run around the streets of Pyongyang (within the marked-off boundaries).
I took full advantage of this 2 hours, to mingle and interact with the locals on the sidelines, who were cheering me on and giving me hi-fives!
Pyongyang is actually not what you think it is. I didn't see a wink of poverty and everyone was dressed nicely and looked like they were going somewhere important.
Very interesting place to say the least!
