A lot has happened over the last year for crypto currency, Bitcoin rallied an insane 1450% from the low point in March to the ATH over the past couple months. 2020 was also the year that Yield Farming and Liquidity providing became a very profitable source of income. Many platforms offer anywhere from 6-9% as a savings account all the way to hundreds and thousands of percentage yield for staking your funds on their project.
I have been knee deep in Decentralized Autonomous Organizations just farming, keeping my head down and earning a honest days work farming. Personally my partner is unable to work and the secondary income that it has given me has allowed us to maintain our lifestyle while my partner goes back to school.
This made me think about how I can make money to spend without actually spending my money, what I mean is that my yield profits are approx 5% a month and that gives my partner and I enough to use that as our secondary income. For every 10k I put in I get 500 a month as a "reward."
So one day I thought about raising a fund to do good. The fund would be owned by the investors who are given tokens to vote on projects they want to deploy cash into. I want to raise 100k, and deploy 5-10k a month into local charities and other community initiatives around the Vancouver area as a trial. What I am proposing is by donating I won't ever spend your money only the interest earned from the money, therefore you can claim the money back at any point after a 3-6month lock up period. As well if I can get charity status I could issue tax receipts which would further benefit the donors.
I think Vancouver is a great city to try this is as the financial inequality is INSANE, we have multi million dollar spaces directly next to what the UN calls a "slum" of the downtown east side.
Here is my plan:
1) Raise money, distributed governance token 1:1 for dollar
2) Three months of earning is required before our first vote
3) Let the community/members/investors propose and vote on how the funds are deployed
4) Repeat
The thesis of the fund is to encourage community growth through financial support for individuals that are unable to help themselves. The thesis is purposely broad as it would allow for any to present a proposal, for funding on projects that they think would benefit the community.
I would love all feedback, interest and supporters to reach out to me directly on telegram: dvncan.eth
Stay safe,
