Until now, the metaverses have only sought profiles as developers or specialist engineers to build the technical part of these worlds. Now that the technical part is up and running, other profiles are being sought, some as varied as "tour guides" and of course...many of the jobs that will be in demand are still unknown. Let's see what a priori seems to be in many of these virtual universes.
With the change of name from Facebook to Meta, the metaverses have been given a voice (and what a voice!!), especially after the aggressive commitment of Mark Zuckerbreg, CEO of Meta, to virtual reality. Since then, the spaces where people interact with each other and with these universes through avatars have begun to become a reality and multiply in the race to be the first and, above all, the best and most attractive. Some big companies like Coca Cola or Nike have already developed the first products exclusively designed for these digital worlds.
In recent months, different events have already begun to be held, such as concerts, work spaces, art galleries, embassies, educational and video game events. Like all new industries, as virtual reality and metaverses gain a foothold in the markets, new jobs are created and sought after.
According to Caroline Souza, Client Partner of Meta for Latin America, "Probably the specialization of jobs in these universes will be the direct result after the creation of virtual environments. Already today the first jobs are being created and little by little they will demand more quantity and much more diversity."
As these spaces, such as museums, concert halls or offices, are created, more than just developers of virtual ecosystems are being demanded. Mrs. Souza affirms that until today, the most established professions are:
- Cybersecurity Specialists
- Digital stylists
- Virtual reality ecosystem developers
- Lawyers specialized in the ecosystem
- Marketers
- Tour guides
- Engineers in virtual and augmented reality
"The existence of lawyers is logical because the laws have to be defined within these new spaces, for example. These new professions are obviously only the tip of the iceberg. Others will emerge and some are already being created so that the result of this development work is a healthy environment for everyone. Probably these will be the jobs of our children and grandchildren in the nearest future" Souza affirmed.
The virtual reality of the metaverses will give rise to these new job opportunities as these new worlds are established in our lives, of course including the new technologies that will appear to achieve much more immersive experiences.
In 2021, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC), more than 11 million virtual reality glasses were sold. An increase of 91% compared to the previous year.
Another great example is that just last month, nine major American universities have launched their virtual universities. On the other hand, Foo Fighters, the rock band, gave a concert in virtual reality, using cameras that surrounded the stage from which they played, in turn allowing attendees to interact and socialize with each other during it.
