I have previously posted about Upland regarding its latest NFT collectibles partnership with FIFA here and here. But Upland at its core is an NFT property trading game with a bit of inspiration from Monopoly. Buying and selling NFT property lots for different purposes depending on your game strategy is the basic activity. Properties for sale can be listed in either USD or the in-game currency UPX which is not a tradable cryptocurrency like in most other GameFi. You would need to complete KYC with the USD wallet provider Tilia in order to on-ramp your USD for direct purchase of properties or for buying the in-game currency which you could also earn by playing some aspects of the game like treasure hunting or for participating in other contests and events.
There are many reasons to buy any particular property whether in real life or in the metaverse. Here, I make a case for some of those reasons. You may find other reasons as you consider them or when you roam around and play the game yourself especially after you meet other players and learn about individual game strategies.
So here we go:
1. 5133 N CHRISTIANA AVE Chicago, IL
This is tagged on the map as THE JOHNSON CENTER. Property markings on the map are unintentional from Upland. It is an artifact from their 3rd party map provider. However, this provides some novelty in the game as your property gains some distinction from any other polygon around it. This may also be useful in case you eventually use your property for a metaverse business called Metaventures so other players may easily find it.
It also has a multi-level walkthrough indoor streetview which as you might know is also not under the control of the game developers. This aspect might change at any point in time depending on Google and the real world property owner. This nevertheless adds even more novelty to your metaverse property as long as it lasts.
2. 2028 BRACKEN AVE Las Vegas, NV
Get yourself a very unique psychedelic streetview.
The streetview camera messed-up here but it nonetheless adds character to an otherwise ordinary image of a real world property.
3. 2215 E 70TH ST Kansas City, MO
When sometimes you just can't make it to the house and you have to go right there and then. This would be perfect for you. 😅
Quite an amusing streetview that could be a conversation starter when you tell your friends about your metaverse portfolio.
This is where the HOES' at!😅
Now we come to the pièce de résistance of this shill post.
If you or anyone you care about went to St John Chrysostom's School, you may want to pool some funds to get this out of my hands and stop me from peddling your institution like this across the metaverse. 😅
This also has an apartment building in-game. Buildings inside the Upland metaverse are another NFT on top of and distinct though tied to the NFT property lot where it stands. These are constructed using a separate in-game token called Spark that represent manhours when staked in a construction project. So apart from the novelty from real world affinities, an in-game building adds definitive value to the metaverse property that is actually recorded in the blockchain. In this case, an apartment building has 8 living units which is currently the highest in Upland. Living units are needed to set your permanent residence in the game. This is currently not mandatory but having a permanent address is set to have benefits like neighborhood voting rights which has been recently tested. You only need 1 living unit to set you permanent residence but future uses for more than 1 living unit can be for renting it out to other players when it might be required to have at least a temporary address in the city where you are going. This can also be a perch for watching car races.
