As a car racing lover today I took Sunday to update myself on stock car Brazil, I really like it a lot but lately I had been following Nascar and I left stock car aside, and the comparison was a shock.
This comparison is not really between the modalities but rather between the dollar and the real and the situation between the United States and Brazil, honestly I think the stock car is much more exciting than Nascar, perhaps it doesn't reach the same speed but the advantage Not being an oval track, it brings a certain adrenaline rush to the viewer.
But the comparison I'm referring to is in culture and sponsorship, really in money and advertising, my God how different it is, in Nascar we have the event with aerial fighters, soldiers providing security and celebrity like "the rock" giving the start, and the sponsorships are giant companies, the audience is completely full, there is no one left to watch, here in Brazil it's a joke, very few people will watch, the sponsorships are throat lozenge brands, pharmacy chains and at most Snapdragon is one of the largest that is investing at the moment. Maybe it's the problem that Brazilians only like soccer, I understand that Americans are also crazy about football, but that doesn't mean they don't go to Nascar races or stop watching, this makes me think that it could have to do with the problem of purchasing power between the real and the dollar. As our currency is worth almost 6 times less than the dollar we cannot afford to go to the World Cup or the race, we have to choose between one or the other, or maybe Brazilians just don't want to go and prefer soccer.
It bothers me to see a sport as exciting as the stock car full of empty seats in the audience. No advertisements on open TV or even on Google, while any soccer game is announced all the time. I don't know, this was just an opinion that I wanted to share with you, feel free to disagree and express your opinions about these sports and these two countries that are so different despite some similarities.
