Tax, tax and more tax, my God, you don't believe what the Brazilian government is doing so that the population does not buy products online abroad such as Ali Express, Shein and other platforms, from August 1, 2024 all purchases up to 50 dollars will be taxed at 20% of the purchase value and an additional 17% ICMS, that is, a product worth 50 usd will cost me 68.5 usd plus shipping, in addition to purchases between 50 and 3000 dollars the tax will be of 60% this is absurd, they are doing this to force the Brazilian population to buy products manufactured within the country but the variety of products versus demand does not match, in other words there are many products on Ali express that are not available on the "free market" (marketplace app that has many Brazilian stores)
We cannot forget that gasoline increased from 5.40 reais per liter to 6.17 reais in less than two months, the fiscal framework has already burst and we still have two more years of this mandate, it is the highest tax rate in the country in many years.
I don't want to defend any party (left or right) here, but a deputy's salary is 46,000 reais while a worker's minimum wage is 1,550, both of which are human beings who need the same things to live! We have 513 federal deputies, so we spend 23,598,000 reais every month to pay these #*@_% (I don't know if I can swear like I really want to)
My dear reader, sorry for the rant, but paying 23 and a half million to these guys every month (I only listed the federal ones, not counting senators, and the state ones too) and now having to pay between 37% and 60% tax on online purchases Since most of us are salaried people, it’s revolting! VERY REVOLTING!
