People are talking about how bad the performance of the cryptocurrencies they are holding and they are grumbling day after day about the falling price of their cryptocurrencies. Nonetheless, most of us are too focused on those cryptocurrencies holding in our wallet but having insufficient regard to the overall performance of the cryptocurrency market. Therefore, when I am doing my research about the market performance, I take a look at the Year to Date (YTD) price performance of 60 cryptocurrencies , ranking by their market capitalization (Market Cap) as follows:

Table showing the YTD Price Performance of 60 Biggest Cryptocurrencies
Brief Analysis
From the above table, apart from six cryptos (highlighted in green), almost all those other cryptos had suffered losses in the year of 2022. The price of Bitcoin dropped about 18% and Ethereum was down by more than 30% in this year. Besides, eleven cryptos (highlighted in red) had reported loss of more than 50% in their prices while thirty three of them (highlighted in orange) dropped between 20% and 50%. The average price movement of these cryptos is -27.64% and you should have outperformed the overall market if your portfolio had received loss of less than 27% so far in this year!
Moreover, the following two cryptocurrencies are the rare ones which significantly outperformed the overall market so far in the year of 2022 and you may want to know more about them:
- UNUS SED LEO (LEO) (54.97%)
- Waves (WAVE) (101.38)
Nonetheless, after Bitcoin topped on 8 November 2021, we all knew that the cryptocurrency market had performed badly but we also fairly understood the volatile nature of cryptocurrency. Indeed, a drop of 40%, 50 % or even more is not a big surprise to those who had involved in crypto for some time. So what should we do with our crypto assets now? We should dump those underperformed cryptos now and buy in those outperformed one? My methodology is to review my portfolio and reconsider the fundamentals of the cryptos. We should check the fundamentals of our cryptos to see if there is any significant changes happened and compared with the situation at the time we bought it. Then we could decide whether you should hold it, sell it or accumulate more!
Give you an example, Pancakeswap (CAKE) is one of my favourites in my portfolio and it suffered more than 54% loss so far. As of today, it remains to be the most popular Dapp on Binance Smart Chain (BSC) and it is launching some new functions very recently, says limit order and perpetual trading. But I don't go into details about my CAKE research here. So in spite of its poor performance, I decided to raise my CAKE holding as well as staking!
