A velvet blade for everyone's heart
to rip it open
piece by piece
part by part
it's sometimes good to show
sometimes better to not know
leaves deep cuts that never heal
no matter how much you don't feel
we think in our minds, it's good and warm
but know in our hearts its no big charm
why isn't it like that? why not a rose?
so flawless and perfect
it's what we all expect
but it's not so glamorous
and oh so fame
and when it all goes wrong
you only have yourself to blame
why have we slain this beautiful dove?
what is this velvet razor we like to call love?
This is an original poem I wrote and first posted on www.poets.com (I believe around 2002ish?) unfortunately, that website has been down for a number of years. Luckily I had most of my work backed up on good old fashioned pencil and paper, so now I can share it with you.
