Time to Plant a Tree

Getting Started

How did you get started in the world of digital currency? I hope it was a decade ago mining Bitcoin on your personal PC and now you want to take me out to lunch! For me it was January of 2021 when I saw I could buy crypto in my PayPal account. When it comes to owning digital currency PayPal leaves everything to be desired, but the lack of options was perfect for someone who knew next to nothing. If it had been anymore complicated I might have never gone down the rabbit hole. As it was I had to activate the crypto trading feature on my account and was able to allocate some of my PayPal balance to any of these four: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, or Bitcoin Cash. That's it: four coins, buy, hold, sell. So I really didn't learn anything, but I saw my balance go up, and up, and up... until this week of course!

Well as the old Chinese proverb says "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now." We all wish we had started years ago, but now is the next best time, especially with the recent pullback. Now as an American there are challenges to trading digital currencies, and I still haven't found a platform I like as much as the stock trading platforms I've used. (Let me know in the comments what platforms you like best and why.) My first couple attempts to open a crypto trading account failed. I don't know if it was something on my end or theirs, but I could never get my Binance account verified and activated. Oh well their loss I guess. Eventually, I opened a Coinbase account as well as exploring some of the more creative ways to earn crypto (like Publish0x!).

I plan to write about some of those experiments here. After all dips seem like a great time to be writing here and earning tips that will only go up (right?)! I hope you'll enjoy the journey along with me as I learn, have fun, and hopefully increase the value of everything I encounter!
