I don’t think you understand what void deck means. Allow me the privilege to explain this Singapore term for you. Void deck refers to the common space on the first floor of a block of public housing flats. It is a term synonymous with living in Singapore since more than 90% of the population live in flats.
Due to global warming, architects and designers have come up with new ways of living. Today, we travelled to the other end of the island to explore a void deck playground, arguably the first in Singapore. I think it’s such an ingenious use of space. A netted ropeway brings children close to the ceiling of the first floor. So nice to see children climb to the top without hesitation. They are unlikely to develop a fear of heights if they are used to climbing from a young age!
