Morning! I’d like to share what I’m doing with my boy this week
What to teach
- pair changes in state of matter with processes (water ~> water vapour = evaporation)
Why focus on water
- Water cycle is prominently tested in Sci
- Can teach with idioms (raining cats and dogs, 倾盆大雨), vocab (drizzling, downpour 🌧️ )
- Preschools should have introduced your child to Water Wally. My child told me that 22 March is World Water Day
-*preempt the need for damage control* storybooks write that the mist coming out of a boiling kettle is steam. That is wrong! The mist is water droplets. Steam is invisible
- Lots of real-life examples (why bathroom mirror turns foggy during showering, why ‘spread out’ wet laundry 🧺 , why water droplets form under lid when cooking cup noodles) https://diaperfinancingfund.blogspot.com/2025/01/21-items-about-water.html?m=1
How I teach
- showering time = drill time
- read “Drop: An Adventure through the Water Cycle” from NLB
- put DIY candy in freezer
Hope this helps!
