People are reading less as they grow older. What is your opinion? (2024 O Levels)

I agree with the observation that people read less as they grow older. The decline in reading can be attributed to a variety of reasons.

I think the most important reason is that people’s responsibilities increase with age. They have to juggle the competing demands of schoolwork and CCAs.

Personally, I have been reading less these days. I am preoccupied with preparing for the PSLE. My teachers give us so much homework that I have little leisure time. When I do have time, I just want to relax and unwind by playing games.

That is why I applaud National Library’s Book Bugs initiative, which encourages children to read. I suggest that National Library also allow children to redeem their points for other things like snacks and stationery. More people will then participate in reading enthusiastically.
