One of the perks of being an elementary school teacher is being invited to tour the newly opened Rainforest Wild Adventure East. Showcasing myriad habitats in Africa, it offers visitors novel experiences. Singapore has always been attuned to the needs of animals in its design of the habitats, and I feel that this latest attraction takes the cake. We not only saw Pygmy hippos walk leisurely in the waters without a care in the world, but also observed African painted dogs dart off at lightning speed, moving in a tight pack. As if getting up close to the animals wasn’t enough, we also got to experience the Canopy Glider, which was basically a ride in the air. This allowed us to obtain a bird’s eye view of the surroundings and help us appreciate how these African animals are like in their “natural surroundings”
