I don’t know if my son will turn out to become a scholar or sportsman. But it doesn’t matter because I’m immensely proud of him and eternally grateful that he is in my life.

Apparently, some students have taken to harassing him during recess time. Specifically, they told him that I am sus, which is Gen Alpha slang for ‘stupid’.

As a magnanimous professional, I take such criticism in my stride. “The next time someone approaches you, tell him to sit still in my class,” I instructed him.

“Oh, I already do that,” he replied matter-of-factly, “I tell them not to scream or run around in your class,”

A 7-year-old who holds his own against older children and is not afraid to articulate his truth. That’s my son for you. ❤️
