In Chinese, we have a proverb: “The bridge will naturally straighten itself out when a boat reaches it.”
Today should be highly stressful because we somehow needed to churn out enough food waste for not just one, but two composting projects. Luckily, Sensei is resourceful and deployed his wits as usual. I saw the bento boxes in the invigilation ops room - and a brainwave came to me. Why don’t I use the leftover food as materials for the black soldier fly larvae and for the composting bin? And that’s what I did, even if it took me 45 minutes to scoop the food into plastic bags.
The first session went overtime, but thankfully, both vendors were happy to meet each other. What should be an awkward session turned out to be an intellectually stimulating exchange of insights. Despite having come from different areas of expertise, they shared a common love of sustainability. It was quite enthralling for me to witness really.
All’s well that ends well. Thus ends my gratitude journal for today.
