Singapore just celebrated its National Day, which provided fertile ground for my son to learn about his homeland and its origin. “Did you know that Singapore was once controlled by the Japanese?” I enlightened my boy. This period of history has occured during World War II. Japanese had occupied Singapore for 3 years and 8 months.
