Recently I have been spending way too much time on Hodlnaut’s Discord channel. The truth of the matter is, if I clock enough points, I get to redeem them for $10 worth of USDC every month. Now, chatting may be tedious and onerous for most people, but for this language teacher who is ENFP by nature, I love that I can chat to earn money!

Anyway, people from the United States and the United Kingdom also frequent this channel. So one unexpected benefit is that I get to meet people who come from different sociocultural backgrounds. I am having a whale of a time learning more about the big bad world out there through them. For instance, the Brits say pinch and a punch on the first of every month. And how about the time in which I firmly said that I support the death penalty for drug traffickers in front of an American who has cannabis and marijuana legalised in his state?

One touching thing is that despite the apparent differences, they seem very much in favour of Singapore. In fact, some of them said that they want to pay my little island a visit. One has gone as far as to Google about JEWEL. So it was with great excitement that I took a photo of the Dinosaur trail I was embarking on today with my form class and sent it to the channel.

Their response? An unanimous concurrence that Singapore is beautiful. In exchange, I learnt that both New York City and Washington have natural history museums, so I could see real dinosaur fossils over there. I also took some pride in telling them that Raffles Biodiversity Museum showcased real dinosaur fossils imported all the way from Wyoming.

I never expected to hone my cultural versatility on a crypto platform. But there you go. Life doesn’t always turn out as what you might expected. Got to be like water and go with the flow.
